The Howick Selwyn Centre has received a welcome boost from its local New World to the tune of $814.30, thanks to the supermarket’s exciting ‘Howick Heroes’ giveback campaign which donates funds for good causes.
The Selwyn Centre had been nominated by New World customers to be one of three community organisations to receive a share of a prize pool of $3,000, donated as part of the store’s monthly charitable giving initiative.
Each time a customer shopped in the store, they had an opportunity to decide how the funds should be allocated, by placing a token in the box representing the organisation they wished to support. At the end of the month, all the tokens were weighed to determine how the prize pool would be divided.
Thanks to New World’s generous donation, plans are now underway to organise a community event for the Howick Selwyn Centre guests and older people living in the locality.
