The dragon is the ultimate symbol of power, fortune and prosperity in Chinese and other Asian cultures. That's why the Year of the Dragon, which began on February 10, 2024, is seen by many as special and auspicious.  Plus, there are some clues around health and wellbeing.

The personality traits of people born in the year of the dragon are charismatic, intelligent, confident, powerful, passionate, they are naturally lucky and gifted. In everything that they do, they tend to do it to the best of their ability and to a high standard.

Chinese tradition has always used the dragon totem as the national emblem, and the "Yellow Dragon flag" of the Qing dynasty has influenced the impression in many European countries that China is a dragon.

Dragons have a place in other culture’s mythology and beliefs.

Both the Greeks and the Romans considered the serpent to be a guardian spirit, represented on their altars.

A red dragon is a symbol of victory and courage in Welsh culture.

In the 12th century, the legend of King Arthur sung by bards mentioned two giant red and white dragons. The red one represented the Celts of Wales, while the white one represented the Saxons of England.

The two dragons fought each other, and, in the end, the red dragon drove away the white dragon. This legend is a metaphor for the history of the Celts’ tenacious resistance against the Saxons.

The red dragon makes an eye-catching pattern on the Welsh flag and also appeared on the coat of arms of the Welsh-born King Henry VII of England.

In Norse mythology dragons are powerful, magical creatures, seen to embody the concepts of chaos and destruction. As a result, many Vikings decorated their longships, shields, and other accessories with images of dragons to strike fear into the hearts of their enemies.

Dragons also feature in one of the highest rating TV series, namely Game of Thrones. After the death of their father, two siblings fight for the throne, thereby causing a civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.

Those born under the Chinese Dragon Zodiac sign are said to have a strong desire for success, which can sometimes lead them to stress. To maintain good health, they are recommended to do regular exercise, eat well, and take time to relax from their hectic days. That is good health & wellbeing advice for everyone, not just those born in the Chinese Dragon Zodiac years of 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012 and in 2024.
